Job Description

A new restaurant opening the fall of 2024, created by the Yellow Umbrella Provisions family is seeking a passionate and talented lead oyster bartender to join our amazing team. This is a great opportunity for anyone with the passion, drive, and knowledge to start at the foundational level in helping to lead and grow within a team that will become one of the most exciting restaurants in the fast growing city of Richmond, Va.

Qualifications

  • At least two years experience working in a professional restaurant.
  • At least one year working professionally with oysters and seafood.
  • Advanced knowledge in all things oysters.
  • Experience working with POS systems and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work cleanly and efficiently.
  • Physical stamina to stand and move for extended periods.
  • Capacity to lift and carry trays and other restaurant equipment.

Opening Duties

  • Development of a program to ensure the initial and continuous education of oysters for staff.
  • Working with the chef on the development of the restaurant’s oyster bar program.

Operational Duties

  • Supervise oyster bar staff.
  • Ensure smooth operations during service hours.
  • Train & motivate oyster bar staff to maintain high standards of service and education.
  • Educate all staff about the daily oyster offerings.
  • Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and feedback to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the BOH and FOH staff to ensure seamless communication and service.
  • Collaborate with BOH and FOH management for special events and parties involving the oyster bar.
  • Monitor inventory levels of oyster bar supplies and place orders as needed through kitchen management.
  • Enforce health and safety standards, including food safety and cleanliness.
  • Oversee the setup and breakdown of the oyster bar area before and after service.
  • Create and maintain a positive and energetic atmosphere for both customers and staff.
