Keira D'Amato's Healthy Yellow Umbrella Picks

I'm thrilled to announce my partnership with Yellow Umbrella!

Yellow Umbrella hosted an incredible Don’t Call It A Comeback book launch in September at their beautiful new Ballast location, complete with a gorgeous courtyard that connects Slack Tide Fish Co., Cirrus Vodka, and Yellow Umbrella Provisions.

I’m a huge fan of Yellow Umbrella’s healthy prepared meals (busy parents, read: quick, easy, and good for you) and their top-quality seafood, meats, and produce.

I’m passionate about fueling my body with good food, and I’m excited to share that I’ll be contributing to the Yellow Umbrella blog to spread some wisdom on healthy eating for an active lifestyle.

First up, let’s talk snacks.

Snacks aren’t just “extra” for runners. They’re the bridge that keeps your energy, your focus, and honestly, your mood steady between workouts and real life.

When I’m training hard, my body burns through fuel fast. I used to ignore that, thinking if I ate three balanced meals, I was covered… or honestly, sometimes I was too busy chasing kids around to even remember. But by mid-afternoon, I’d crash. My long runs felt harder (hello, wall!), recovery dragged, and I’d find myself reaching for anything quick (and usually not great).

That’s when I started treating snacks as part of my training plan, not just an afterthought. A handful of nuts, a homemade granola bar, some yogurt and fruit. These little moments of refueling that keep my energy way more even and recovering way easier. Simply put: snacking makes running feel easier… I consider them my quiet little wins throughout the day.

I just discovered the homemade granola bars from Yellow Umbrella during the book launch party. The two flavors: Raspberry Cashew Bar and Latte Bar were delicious and the perfect kind of grab-and-go fuel that makes fueling easier.

Cashews bring the crunch and the power, full of healthy fats and magnesium to keep energy steady and muscles cramp-free. Sprouted oats deliver those slow, sustained carbs that go the distance. And a touch of honey or maple syrup gives just enough natural sweetness to refill glycogen stores and keep recovery on track.

The Raspberry Bar adds a bright pop of tartness (hello, antioxidants) while the Latte Bar sneaks in a little caffeine boost, because let’s face it, sometimes the legs need as much pep as the personality.

It’s real food that works as hard as you do: balanced, energizing, and actually delicious. Toss one in your bag, hit the road, and snack like you mean it.

I’m so grateful to partner with Yellow Umbrella, a place that truly understands the power of good food and good community. Whether you’re a runner, a busy parent, or just someone trying to eat well and feel strong, their prepared meals and fresh ingredients make it easy to fuel your body the right way.
